mint chocolate chip cocktail

i originally posted this drink recipe last year, as i know that there are lots of people who want to celebrate st. patrick’s day by having a green drink, but aren’t a huge fan of green beer (raises hand). fortunately, if yore hosting a st. patrick’s day get-together, or just want to whip up a seasonal cocktail for yourself, this cocktail both looks beautiful AND tastes delicious.

the light green color of the martini is gorgeous + not so bright that it’s off-putting (as many green drinks are). the chocolate flecks add a bit of contrasting color + a lovely additional chocolate flavor – never a bad thing! overall, the drink is brightly-flavored, creamy, + absolutely decadent + delicious. regardless of whether you’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s day with a green beer, irish whiskey, or this fabulous cocktail, i hope you all have a wonderful holiday! so far, my plans entail making a proper irish dinner at home, ideally accompanied by a few of these wonderful cocktails!

mint chocolate chip cocktail

makes one cocktail, adapted from the fontainebleau hotel

ingredients

3/4 ounce rum
3/4 ounce crème de cacao
3/4 ounce crème de menthe
3/4 ounce half-and-half
fresh mint, for garnish (optional)
shaved chocolate flakes, for garnish (optional)

directions

in an ice filled mixing glass, add above ingredients, shake vigorously. strain into a chilled cocktail glass. garnish with fresh mint +/or shaved chocolate flakes (optional).
